Imposing The ‘Permanent Revolution’

Friend In The Ether Adobe Walls left the following comment on a post by Stacy McCain, entitled Syria: Another Casualty Of ‘Hope’:

Even imposing “democracy” anywhere in the [Middle East] is anti-democratic. Democracy in that area is just another means to seize absolute power. We’re not exporting democracy, we’re importing totalitarianism.

He’s absolutely correct.

Any nation that constitutes itself as a Democracy is just asking to be taken over by Totalitarians because any system of government that allows the whim of the majority to wield power is easily manipulated and easily corrupted. Checks and balances are virtually non-existent and representatives are directly beholden to a fickle public.

And, please tell me, why would we seek to impose Democracy anywhere, considering The United States is not a Democracy?

Since The Founding, there have been Americans who believe our system of government can be exported anywhere in the world. This dream became more commonplace as a result of the advocacy of this folly by the Progressives, especially Wilson and his ilk, and has survived to become standard policy.

What we have here in America is a system that fits us, is tailored to a certain kind of people. It cannot be applied in most of the world.

Frankly, it is a system tailored to English-speaking peoples who are the descendents of the English Culture.

Fortunately, it is a system that other peoples can adapt themselves to with relative ease.

However, it remains unique and cannot be replicated.

But, of course, replication is not quite what the Left [along with the unthinking help of the Useful Idiots on the non-Left] seeks. It likes Democracy for the same reasons I damned earlier in this post: the Left is about gaining Power and Control — possession of it is the only way that the Left can achieve their goals, because sane people in control of their government will always reject the insanity that is Leftism. So what they wish to see imposed in other countries are systems of government that, by their very nature, are easily manipulated by like-minded people.

And for the Left, the Revolution never ends. As Gerhart Niemeyer wrote:

…It moves not toward a concrete objective, which is rather characteristic of normal politics, but toward an ever-expanding and ever-intensifying power, limitless because no particular object will satisfy it and no normative standard is allowed to restrict it. The concept of peace is alien to this kind of politics…. Marx proclaimed the principles of “permanent revolution” in 1850, and Lenin gave it a new name, “protracted struggle,” in 1920….*

Thus, Oceania is always at war with someone.

The Revolution never ends because the ends the Left seek are never reached and because any goals achieved cannot be maintained, as they go against Human Nature, so the jackboot must grind into the human face forever in an effort to preserve whatever gains they have made.

Heaven On Earth is impossible, but don’t waste your breath telling that to this group of denialists.

Also: don’t look for Leftist Thinking to make sense, to be reasonable, because it’s not. It cannot be so. All Leftists reject Right Reason, therefore, all of their premises are wrong because they are based on a fantasy. Thus, their Ideology [as with all Ideologies] is riddled with contradictions. Ultimately, therefore, they will have resort to and employ force.

Hence, no one is safe as long as Leftism is seen as an acceptable way of thinking.

Could This Be One Explanation?

If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?
