How About A Little Breather… [Updated below]

17 April 2010 @ 17:27

We all need a little breather.  And, hey, it’s Saturday Night and the lumpwort lickspittles of the Leftist god are off doing whatever it is pathetic pustules do in their sorry-ass social lives, so let’s kick back and relax a bit…

-I’d like to start off with some words of wisdom from The Godfather Of Punk, Iggy Pop, who summed-up the way many of us musicians in the Punk/New Wave Movement felt and how I still feel:

Roll over, Woodstock. We won.

Spoken like a true Wolverine.

I got that quote from Professor Donald ‘Restraining Order’ Douglas who also posted a video of Iggy performing The Passenger in 1977.  It gives you a good flaor of what his gigs were like back then [I saw him at least a three or four times — exeact figures of anything I did at that time vary, IYKWIMAITYD].

-Speaking of punk, the impressario who created the Sex Pistols has died and Ran has the obit.

-If you’re not into the whole punk jazz, how about some Buddy Rich drumming accompanied by some slick Eleanor Powell tapping to some South American rhythms, courtesy of Paco.

-Follow that up with The Condos Borthers tapping their way through WWII.

-Let’s take 5 from the music for a bit and help out the EU as it searches for a virgin to placate Iceland’s volcano [none were found, according to Dan Collins, in the whole of the EU countries].

-Back to the music now [thanks to Dan Collins] with one of my favorites by Ten Year’s After, I’d Love To Change The World.

Everywhere is freaks and hairies
Dykes and fairies, tell me where is sanity
Tax the rich, feed the poor
Till there are no rich no more?

I’d love to change the world
But I don’t know what to do
So I’ll leave it up to you

-Dave, over At The Point Of A Gun, has some fantastic pictures taken by a friend of his who is over serving his country in Iraq.  The sandstorm one’s are awe-inspiring.

-How about some vintage Cigarette Gals?

-I don’t know about you, but for me, just seeing a pretty gal smile can immediately uplift my spirits.  For example…

-Over at Three Beers Later, you’ll find Denise Miliani playing with a puppy!

-Jamie Jeffords has been doing a bang-up job reveiwing all of the episodes of Deep Space Nine.  This link will get you to all of them and this one to one of his best.

-As we are at the end of a very taxing week, it seems appropraite to end with a rare performance by Stacy McCain of the classic Sixteen Tons done at the Smittypalooza III event this past Wednesday:

He’s still got the chops.

UPDATE at 1927…

-Bob Pearson has got the perfect performance for all you lovers out there who are seeking a little inspiration to get your mojo workin’: Julie London with a bossa nova rendition of Fly Me To The Moon.
