Dhimmitude And Comedy Central’s Attitude [Updates below]

23 April 2010 @ 09:42

For background, please see my two previous postings on this subject here and here.

In my posting of yesterday on the South Park episode controversy, I speculated this on the last part of it:

…in the standard ‘I’ve learned a valuable lesson…’ monologue by Stan at the end of the show, the whole thing was bleeped-out by a long and continuous bleep noise [this was also applied to the monologues by Santa and Jesus that agreed with Stan]. Methinks this was done by Trey and Matt as a protest over the other censorship.

Turns out, I was wrong.  The creators issued this statement yesterday afternoon:

In the 14 years we’ve been doing South Park we have never done a show that we couldn’t stand behind. We delivered our version of the show to Comedy Central and they made a determination to alter the episode. It wasn’t some meta-joke on our part. Comedy Central added the bleeps. In fact, Kyle’s customary final speech was about intimidation and fear. It didn’t mention Muhammad at all but it got bleeped too. We’ll be back next week with a whole new show about something completely different and we’ll see what happens to it.

So…the powers that be at Comedy Central decided to go the full monty and show their total and absolute cowardice by censoring the part of the episode that had nothing to do directly with Mohammed and, in fact, argued for good old American tolerance of all religions — you know, a foundational pillar of this country.  Shame on them.

Stacy McCain points to Christopher Renner’s site where you will find contact information for Comedy Central and the Muslim site that made the threats against Matt and Trey.

In a wonderfully titled blog posting [Craven-ness Central: Those Who Hate You Laugh At You, Without Humor], Smitty comments:

In a schoolyard setting, attempts to silence others would be called bullying, and not tolerated.

In culture, the stakes are higher, yet public leadership goes for Chamberlainism. Why?

To put it simply: Because some of the elites in The West are ashamed of their civilization, the rest just downright hate it [and themselves…and life itself].

The former have had their minds poisoned by years of Leftist propaganda with the result that their neurons constantly misfire and they never see that all premises and conclusions must be questioned.  They have chosen to handicap themselves and self-perpetuate their own ignorance.  They deserve no respect and should be consigned to the wasteland of pitiable creatures that writhe endlessly in their own filth.

The latter are nothing but nihilists who somewhere, somehow have suffered such a grand and all-encompassing disappointment in their lives that they have turned against life itself and seek nothing less that to relieve their pain in moments of destruction, ultimately hoping for a concluding orgasmic and orgiastic Götterdämmerung.

The cowards fear the wrath of the followers of this man:

You know, this guy…

UPDATE at 1027…

-Over at Another Black Conservative, Clifton points out the rank hypocrisy of Comedy Central and weighs-in with another possible rename for the spineless weaselly cable network:

This is pathetic. Comedy Central has no problem running South Park’s jokes against other religions under the guise of artistic freedom of expression, but when faced with bully tactics and intimidation from the religion of peace, Comedy Central throws all of that high minded talk right out window and folds like a cheap house of cards.

Welcome to Cowardly Central; Where we only poke fun at religions that don’t fight back.

As Sarah Jessica ‘Mr. Ed’ Parker would say: ‘Me likey’.

NOTE at 1941: Link to Anothe Black Conservative fixed [apologies Clifton].

UPDATE at 2023…

Iowahawk reports that there actually is someone out there who respects Cowardly/Craven-ness Centrals actions:

Comedy Central Execs Land Courage Award

NEW YORK — The programming staff and Standards and Practices department of cable TV’s Comedy Central have been named winners of the Al-Fatwahadeen Revolutionary Martyrs Anti-Defamation League’s 2010 Anti-Blasphemy Courage Award.

“All too often, infidels in the media industry are cowards when it comes to obeying Islamic law,” said League spokesmartyr Khalid Al-Mustapha. “By selectively censoring the blasphemers of South Park, these Comedy Central executives have displayed the steadfast conviction to stand up, courageously raise their voices, and beg not to have their heads chopped off. I am delighted to announce that in recognition of their courage, we will kill them last. Unless they are Jews.”

The award, which also carries a basket of baklava and a $5 Target gift card, is scheduled to be given out at a ceremony in the World Trade Center construction hole.

A spokesperson for Comedy Central said, ” .”

UPDATE at 2055…

-Stogie, over at Saberpoint, has unearthed another [how does he do it?] South Park portrait of Mohammed, this time as Cartman, and comments:

…Cartman WOULD NEVER dress so gay!

Do head on over there to see it [I won’t post it ’cause I respect Islam too much].

-When you’re over at Saberpoint, do also take a look at this report by Stogie on the hacking of the site that threatened the South Park guys.  The hack was one of the best I’ve seen.
