There is no question there is a concerted effort to make [the Ground Zero Mosque] a political issue by some. And I join those who have called for looking into how is this opposition to the mosque being funded.

Classic Fascism.

1) Divert the focus away from the main issue.

2) Charge your opponents with perfidy.

3) Demand that a government entity investigate your opponents in an effort to intimidate them; if the threat doesn’t work, carry through with the threat.
