Notes From The Campaign Trail: 01 November 2010 A.D. [Updated Below]

01 November 2010 @ 11:22

Countdown: One day from today is D-Day —
The Battle Of Midway.

-The Voice Of America, Sarah Palin has coined another dead solid perfect term: Corrupt Bastards Club.

-She came up with the term in reaction to the exposure of the latest example of the media promoting the Leftist Agenda that happened in the Alaska Senate race.  A reporter from KTVA left a voicemail message on Republican Candidate Joe Miller’s phone, but forgot to hang up, so some of the conversation going on in a meeting was captured.  It shows that members of the staff were planning to seek out sex offenders attending Miller’s planned rally.  Ed Morrissey has some of the details here, including a transcript.  Cubachi has more here and links to The Right Scoop who has the video of Mrs. Palin’s appearance on Fox News Sunday where she uses the term.

-Andrew Breitbart was the first to publish the voicemail and Matthew Boyle, over at The Daily Caller, interviewed him about it and the Leftists who are attacking him for it.  A highlight [tip of the fedora to Instapundit]:

Big Government publisher Andrew Breitbart responded to attacks from the Washington Post’s Greg Sargent and Politico’s Ben Smith on Sunday about the audio tapes he released showing CBS employees in Alaska conspiring to damage GOP Senate candidate Joe Miller’s reputation. In a voicemail accidentally left on a Miller campaign staffer’s phone, two reporters from CBS’s Alaska affiliate, KTVA, are heard discussing plans to seek out potential child molesters at a Miller campaign event in an apparent attempt to hurt Miller’s candidacy.

“There’s nothing better than being lectured by liars on what proper journalism is,” Breitbart told The Daily Caller. “Greg Sargent never called me. Is that the standard for proper journalism? How many sources does he have to make this allegation?”

Miller campaign spokesperson Randy DeSoto said that what Breitbart published is everything the campaign released.

“Everything that was recorded on my phone is what we released without change,” DeSoto said in a statement that first appeared on Big Government.

Breitbart said Sargent should have called him, but instead, “He wanted to insert, on behalf of Media Matters and a George Soros-funded institutional left, wanted to muddy the waters by making it about Breitbart – Breitbart edited tapes, Breitbart edited tapes.”

“Of course it’s JournoList – it’s Greg Sargent,” Breitbart said in a phone interview. “Then you see Ben Smith say ‘a snippet,’ acting as if the audio, the information, isn’t telling enough. Then, you see Media Matters – the same players – the same ones that get invited to the White House, the same ones that get on special conference calls, the same ones that get the shout-outs at the press conferences, who get their presidential 15 minutes of fame, the same bloggers who have access to key people within the administration. They’re all working in cahoots with each other, it’s predictable. Every single damaging bit of revelation.”

-FEAR AND LOATHING 2010: The Devil Went Down To Georgia Edition…

=America’s favorite Gonzo Reporter, Stacy McCain is down in the great state of Georgia covering the races there.  This morning he filed a report over at TAS on the race in Georgia-12.  A highlight:

John Barrow is a Democrat endorsed by Barack Obama. Or, depending on who he’s talking to, John Barrow is fighting against Barack Obama and the Democrats. Judging from his campaign’s mixed messages, Barrow believes a majority of voters in Georgia’s 12th District want to re-elect a one-man bipartisan compromise.

In a mailing sent out last week, the Democrat congressman told independent voters that he is “not a rubber stamp” and bragged that he has “stood up to Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats in Washington.”

Of course, that’s not the message Barrow sent to Democrats. The three-term incumbent sent them a different mailer, featuring a photo of the president with the slogan “Now More Than Ever” and the message: “John Barrow is working hand in hand with President Obama.” Meanwhile, listeners to black-oriented radio stations in the southeast Georgia district are hearing ads that tout Obama’s endorsement of Barrow.

Barrow’s schizophrenic campaign demonstrates the precarious political calculus for a Blue Dog Democrat seeking re-election in a year when his party is unpopular and when Republicans are on the winning side of what has been termed the “enthusiasm gap.”…

Stacy, per usual, has filed a related report over at his own site with pictures.

=His first report from Georgia is here.

=Halloween in Georgia [the kid with the cereal boxes is my favorite].

=In a report from this morning, Stacy has hooked-up with Ali Akbar who is helping the McKinney Campaign and interviews him.

=‘The kids are turned off from politics, they say. Most of ’em don’t even want to hear about it. All they want to do these days is lie around on waterbeds and smoke that goddamn marrywanna… yeah, and just between you and me Fred thats probably all for the best’ — Hunter S. Thompson

-From the Elections Do Have Consequences File, we have this item from The Prowler over at today’s The American Spectator:

Look for a spate of political appointees at the Department of Justice to jump ship after the mid-term elections, some may site a desire to spend time with their families or to recoup lost income after two years of public service, but most will be looking to avoid being tainted by what many inside the department believe will be a scandal-plagued two years leading up to the 2012 election cycle.

While no DOJ sources are willing to go on the record, conversations with several prospective returnees to the private sector indicated that they believe the ongoing scandal related to the Black Panther voter-intimidation case will grow larger and reach beyond the department and into the White House, particularly with Republicans controlling government oversight in the House.

This, of course, is all contingent on the House Republican Leadership have the testicular fortitude to conduct such needed investigations and not cower in fear — I’ll believe it when I see it.

They may go ahead and launch the investigations, but go all squishy during the course of them and wimp out — it wouldn’t be the first time.  If they go all spineless, it is up to us to perform a spine transplant.

-Over at Michelle Malkin’s joint, Doug Powers has the skinny on the thin crowds that showed up for the POTUS and VPOTUS rally in Cleveland yesterday at the 13,000 seat arena:

And that 8,000 “crowd estimate” comes from the DNC, so you know it includes area meter maids, janitorial staff and cockroaches.

-My friend Quin Hillyer, who has not been very keen on Christine O’Donnell, has changed his mind:

Readers here may remember that I was unimpressed with Christine O’Donnell. Well, forget all that. The nasty account at Gawker featuring some guy’s first-hand account of an alleged semi-sexual encounter with O’Donnell is such a vile infringement on privacy as to make all decent men feel a chivalrous urge to rush to her defense. Nobody deserves such treatment as Gawker gave her.

But you know what else? It also makes me respect O’Donnell more….

You can read why by clicking here.  Quin, as you will see, is an honorable man.

-Expect updates as the day goes on.

UPDATE at 1447…

-Over at The Pirate’s Cove, William Teach reports on problems in North Carolina with the touch screen voting machines malfunctioning in favor of [get ready for it] the Democrats.

-Also, his latest column for Right Wing News in on the Left’s breathing problems.

-Over at The Corner, Hans Von Spakovsky has a report on how the Establishment Machine in Alaska is pulling out all the stops to help Lisa ‘Things Go Better With Coke’ Murkowski.

-The Lonely Conservative gives Arianna Huffenstuff the what for about her spin on the defeat the Left is probably going to suffer on Tuesday.

-Over at Conservative Hideout, Matt continues to do outstanding work covering the voter fraud issue.  Here’s his latest report [and it ain’t pretty].

-King Shamus picks up Matt’s ball and runs with it.

UPDATE at 1651…

-Over at Three Beers Later, Richard has posted numbers to call and a website to visit to report voting irregularities.  Also, if your cell phone takes pictures, don’t forget to bring it with you to the polls when you vote just in case you need to obtain some proof of hinkey doings.  Mrs. Belvedere will have her phone at the ready.

-Could Steny Hoyer be in trouble?  Jimmie Bise looks into the situation and offers some crackerjack analysis.

-Is a Delaware Cable Station playing games with the Christine O’Donnell Campaign?  The Mind Numbed Robot has the Campaign’s press release on the matter, a link to a The Washington Post report on it, and the video that was not aired.

UPDATE at 2023…

-Regarding the Delaware Cable Station incident, Doug Powers has more information posted here.

-Michelle Malkin tells PBS what they can do with their embed [it involves their travelling to place where there is no sunlight].

-In Minnesota, Election Integrity Watch is fighting an attempt to ban them from being able to wear ‘tea party apparel’ and pins for their organization when they go to the polls.  Democratic Socialist Muslim Rep. Keith Ellision crashed EIW’s press conference and made a damn fool out of himself [in other words, he just was himself].  Nice Deb has the details and video.

-Over at What The…?!, James Nicholas reports on the candidacy of Michael Bieker who is running to defeat another Bolshe in Oregon-33.

-Vicki has the 411 on the Toomey/Sestak race in Pennsylvania over at Frugal Cafe.  And she is spot-on when she writes in another posting:

A lot can happen between now and Tuesday. Since Arizona’s law requiring proof of citizenship for voting was overturned this past week by the 9th Circuit, word on the street is that border patrols are revving up to stop a tsunami of illegal aliens from Mexico from flooding Arizona polls to vote crazily, illegally for Democrats. Voting machines across the country are making errors in favor of Democrats, thousands of fraudulent voter registrations, birthed by the evil masterminds at ACORN and SEIU and their bastard offspring organizations, are being discovered in a number of states. In typical response, Pres. Obama will be sending people to Arizona to keep an eye on… not ILLEGAL ALIENS trying to fraudulently vote (which would be expected in any normal universe), but on the POLL MONITORS.

Contemptible. These people deserve to lose BIG. And painfully.

Everyone must vote. Everyone. No state, no district, is “safe” from Democrat cheating and fraud and intimidation. As I type, members of the New Black Panthers are traveling to Texas to make, uh, sure the polling places are, uh, safe from the citizen election watchdog groups. Considering what happened in Philadelphia in 2008, what could possibly go wrong?

A lot can happen between now and Tuesday.

I don’t know why everyone’s so upset at Barry for sending the Federales to Arizona, after all, we’re the enemy.

Pardon the vulgarity, but: MR. OBAMA, GO F–K YOURSELF.  It’s our country, not yours, you treasonous bastard.  We’re not going to let you and your socialist friends destroy her — we’ll stand beside her and guide her, through the night, with the light from above.

-William Jacobson writes the first history of the very successful Not One Red Cent movement and gives those who ran their site their proper due.

-Eric Dondero reports on Democratic dirty tricks in Indiana.  He also is optimistic about Republican Charlie Baker’s chances of beating Governor Deval Patrick [aka: Obama Lite].  If Mr. Baker wins, it will be because he was carried on the wave of revolt against our socialist masters, not because he ran a very good campaign.  In fact, Baker ran a very bad campaign, one that would have been just fine in any other year in the past.  While it has been understandable, given where he’s running, why he has stayed clear of any TEA Party connections, if he had picked up and run with their themes, he would have been coasting to victory.  Instead, he ran as just another fiscal conservative and social libertarian.  And that’s why he will probably lose by a hair to an incompetent race huckster.

-On the positive side in The Land Of The Bean And The Cod, DaTechguy can smell the Democratic Fear.

-Over at The Other McCain, Smitty gets in Politico’s face [and those who talked to them] for their attempt to drive the Republican nominating process bus in 2012.

-FEAR AND LOATHING 2010: The Devil Went Down To Georgia Edition…

=Stacy has filed a report from Panama City, Florida.
